Like most people in America, I saw The Dark Knight. You can read my review here. I wasn’t all that happy with the film. It had its good moments and bad moments.
If this were to be the new The Shadow film coming out in 2010, I’d be pissed. Sure there are plenty of differences between Batman and The Shadow, but they are also very similar.
I would want a stylized city, based off of the 1930s. Ideally it could still be historical. A city going through the depression brings an emotional impact to the story. Imagine the opening of King Kong. The Dark Knight’s Gotham wasn’t anything memorable. It was just some place with some random villains for some random reason.
Lamont Cranston needs to be likable. Bruce Wayne was possibly the most annoying rich guy ever. Cranston is a charming playboy. In today’s super hero era he would be Tony Stark.
Cranston becomes The Shadow for redemption purposes. In The Dark Knight it was never really clear why Wayne needed to even transform into Batman. Sure they went through all of that in Batman Begins, but remind us of it. Have 1 emotional scene in the movie!
Ultimately, The Dark Knight story was lacking. Random gangs were fighting. Then The Joker came in. He fights Batman. There’s no mystery or intrigue into that story. The Shadow really needs to kick some ass in this area.
Whether you agree with me or not, lets finally get the real living shadow back into popular culture!
Let me know what you all thought of The Dark Knight.
The original teaser trailer didn’t do this film justice. This new full length trailer has everything that a Spirit fan could want! It looks mind-blowingly entertaining. Over the top action, girls, and bursts of comic relief.
I’ve been messing around with live video broadcasting for my site StuffWeLike TV. If you’re interested you can chat with me daily. I try to usually be on around 5pm PST.
